The Vairocana Hall (Daejeok-gwangjeon or Biro-jeon)

비로전

As the principal buddha of the Vairocana Hall, Vairocana Buddha represents "universal illumination." This Buddha, whose wisdom penetrates everywhere, is a major symbol of the Hwaeom (Chi. Huayan) School. The hall is also called "Hall of Great Silence and Light" as the world of Vairocana is filled with the light of truth.

In the Vairocana Hall, it is common to enshrine the Vairocana Buddha as the principal buddha with Amitabha Buddha and Sakyamuni Buddha as attendants.
