Korean Fall Tree: Jujube Tree

The jujube tree, known for its qualities of firmness, is often analogous to highly skillful or meticulous and high-spirited people. Such solidity is perfect for creating the moktak, a hand-held wooden percussion frequently used in Korean Buddhist ceremonies. Its spiritual qualities echo high up to the Tushita Heaven. Bearing red fruits, with the power to chase away bad spirits, this tree is believed to bring good luck and defeat evil. Although it refers to symbol of wisdom in Buddhist sutras, the fruit can aid in digestion and sooth emotions by lessening anger – it is therefore often used for its medicinal qualities.
