Jogye Orders Novice Monk Training Begins

 

The commencement ceremony of the 44th Jogye Order Novice Precept Training was held on March 1st, 2013, at Jikji-sa Temple, the 8th district temple of Jogye Order.

 

A total of 66 male and 37 female novice monks participated in this years precept training.

 

The ceremony was finalized with Venerable Dukmun, the Head of Vinaya Sangha College at Tongdo-sa Temple, handing over the Jukbi (Bamboo clapper) to the Training Master in charge, which symbolized handing over the authority for general operation and disciplining of the trainees.

 

The 44th Novice Monk Training lasted from February 28th to the 15th for 16 days at the Jikji-sa Temple.
